Over the years, we’ve tried to create an environment that is welcoming, inclusive, and warm – a place where learning happens but, more than that, old friends are reunited and new connections are made. A homecoming of sorts. Yes, we’ll learn together. Yes, we’ll also have fun together. Here’s how some of that will happen.
Happy Hour with a Classical Twist.
In addition to hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and networking fun, we’re serving up a classical twist at this year’s Happy Hour. On Thursday, September 24, six members of the Berks Sinfonietta will do what they do best: make music that brings people together.
A hidden gem tucked within the heart of Berks County, PA, Berks Sinfonietta is not just an orchestra, but a vibrant, human fabric woven with the threads of local musicians, seasoned mentors, and eager young learners, all united by a shared passion for music’s transformative power. And, like many attendees at this conference, they are a 501(c)(3), too! A champion of diversity and inclusion, Berks Sinfonietta showcases the works of women composers and celebrates the music of minority composers within the classical world. Since being founded in 2014, their identity has been built on three core pillars that define who they are and how they share music:
- Togetherness – Berks Sinfonietta makes music that brings people together, fostering connection and community through every performance.
- Homegrown – Their members are locally sourced, street-to-stage musicians deeply rooted in their community.
- Reimagining – Berks Sinfonietta is reimagining classical music to make it fresh, accessible, and engaging for everyone.

Dress Code (or Lack Thereof)
Wondering what to wear to this thing? Don’t think too hard about this one – please wear whatever you are most comfortable in. Your best thinking clothes, if you will. Whether that’s a suit, a dress, jeans, your COVID pants, or, in the words of a 2023 attendee his “retired gym teacher look”, you do you.
Celebrating the Standards.
Each year, we take time during the Collaborative Conference to honor organizations for various achievements in the Standards for Excellence®. Throughout both days of the conference, we’ll celebrate the six organizations for achieving Standards Accreditation or Accreditation Renewal in the past 12 months.
