UPMC Health Plan is already leading the industry in transforming care delivery and the health care ecosystem through innovation, with their commitment to social initiatives going back at least a decade. The Center for Social Impact focuses on three key domains: addressing social needs, coordinating and expanding access to benefits, and supporting underserved communities. Activities pursued by the Center may include housing, employment and workforce training, improved service coordination with local government, rural health care, and addressing the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities or the LGBTQI+ populations UPMC Health Plan serves.
Pathways to Work.
As referenced above, UPMC Health Plan is already hard at work addressing the social determinant of employment with their Pathways to Work program. This is available to all UPMC for You members with a goal of connecting people with training programs and other resources to help them find a position at UPMC or elsewhere.
